People do love french fries, especially kids.  The average french fries 20 years ago were about 2.4 ounces and contained 400 calories. Todays average french fries are 6.9 ounces and 610 calories.  Even the small fries nowadays is two third of the original size of the previous time.  What do you think of the medium and large sizes of the fries?

Soda

Previously, an average soda was about 8 ounces and contained about 100 calories.  The average soda nowadays has grown to 20 ounces and 250 calories.  That is why you are advised to quit soda if you are serious in your program for weight loss.

Bagels

Bagels were once my favorite food.  20 years ago, they were only 3 inches in diameter and contained only 120 calories each.  Today they are triple in size, weigh about 4 to 5 ounces, and may contain more than 300 calories each.  Of course, 300 calories is without the cream cheese and smoked salmon.  The change of food portions cause people like you and me overeating food, without knowing it.

Spaghetti and Meat Ball

20 years ago, a serving of spaghetti and meat ball dinner was about 500 calories.  Nowadays, a restaurant pasta dinner is triple than previous time, and easily contains over 1200 calories.  Now you can see the impact of different size of food portions on us, right?
